Lilium Lands in London with Hundreds of Flying Car Jobs

Lilium, a startup launched in 2015 to create an urban air taxi service using its Lilium Jets, announced London as the new base for its software engineering team. Lilium’s all-electric, 5-seat vertical take-off and landing jet took its first flight May 4, 2019.

The Munich-based company aims to have its urban air taxi service running in multiple cities by 2025. It plans to hire hundreds of software engineers in the next five years. Current headcount numbers about 300.

The move to London was lauded by new members of the Lilium team: Carlos Morgado, vice president of technology (formerly CTO of Just Eat); Anja Maasen van den Brink (formerly with Vodafone Ziggo), chief people officer; and Luca Benassi (formerly with Airbus), chief development engineer.

The Lilium Jet, a tilt engine aircraft with 36 small rotors mounted on its flaps, can travel up to 186 miles in an hour. The aircraft produces zero emissions in flight.

More roles will be added to existing operations in Munich and Zurich.
